2020 Year in Review: A Letter from Marvin Davis, our CEO

2020 was a year filled with profound events that changed our lives.  While these global changes were impactful, I find it important to look back at 2020 and share with you what we accomplished this year and what I envision for MDC in 2021.

First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers are with those of you who have suffered and lost loved ones this past year.  Please know that I am committed to providing support to our MDC family as we continue to navigate these uncertain and unprecedented times.

I am grateful for our employees, customers, and business partners. The professionalism, technical expertise, intelligence and commitment to our vision, mission and values is what inspires me to share my 2020 reflections with you today.

Transformation

For MDC, 2020 was a year marked by a tremendous effort of transformation.  This transformation has been both challenging and rewarding.  It has challenged our culture to strengthen the weight of our vision: for MDC to be an industry leader that other companies aspire to be.  This transformation meant that we had to prioritize several key goals.

Our first goal was to ensure our operational focus remained consistent, and that our employee satisfaction remained high while also expanding our business position.

We leveraged technology to ensure we remained in touch with our clients and employees through virtual meetings.  Admittedly, I miss our face-to-face interactions, but I knew we had to intentionally shift our perspectives to ensure that every employee and stakeholder remained safe and connected.

Despite the pandemic and remote work, we successfully increased the effectiveness and efficiency of our operations by hiring several highly skilled personnel, reinforcing our mission — To be so good that our clients cannot image doing business without us.

We know that when our employees love their work, our customers will love our work. Love is the foundational value that empowers the MDC family to engage with respect, dignity and advance our corporate objectives.

We share the values of MDC with the world because who we are is what we value:

· Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.

· Excellence is a standard, not an option.

· Together we can do more.

· Success lies in our ability to learn from mistakes.

· Believe that you can make a difference.

As part of our transformation, we successfully launched our new website and started the expansion of our social media presence.  I like to think of our social media channels, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, as conduits for our values and yet another opportunity for our employees to inspire the world.

I believe exceptional employees who believe in our values help speed up company growth and generate effective community engagement. By living our values, we can ensure that our culture will continue to be the source that empowers us to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.

On the Immediate Horizon….

The opportunity exists for MDC in 2021 to solidify our operational focus, explore new business ventures and raise our level of service for both our employees and clients. In addition to enhancing employee benefits and our charitable engagement within the community, my intent is to also continue investing in the enhancement of our information technology and virtual communications platforms. It is likely that remote work may persist long term, therefore MDC will ensure our employees have the tools and skills to deliver high-quality services to our internal and external clients.

In 2021, MDC will continue to inspire our customers. We invite our communities to experience the culture of MDC. Together we will continue to make a difference.
