COVID-19: How MDC Continues to Adapt

There’s no denying that 2020 has been anything but ordinary. For many of us, navigating through these unprecedented times has been a deeply impactful and challenging experience.

Like many organizations around the world, MDC has witnessed first-hand the direct and powerful impact the global pandemic has had on our clients, our communities, and most importantly, our daily lives.

By proactively working to overcome these monumental challenges, MDC has adapted its current operations to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees and clients.

Earlier in March, one of the first steps our leadership team took to ensure the safety of our team was to implement a remote work schedule. For some team members, this meant reducing their physical time in the office so that they were only on-site three days every other week. For others, especially those more susceptible to COVID-19, they were permitted to work entirely remotely.

And while working remotely was an adjustment for us all, we have seen an increased level of trust, empowerment, and autonomy amongst our employees.

To maximize our social distancing efforts, we moved all of our on-site meetings with team members and clients to a virtual setting. We have been leveraging platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and our employees were quickly able to adjust their collaboration efforts. By maintaining a frequent and open line of communication, our team has been able to ensure that the responsiveness and services to our clients are still being effectively delivered.

To help support the continued health and safety of our employees, MDC provided all employees with face masks, along with a $25.00 gift card to assist in the purchase of supplies.

Knowing stress is an output of the pandemic, the MDC leadership team continues to place a greater emphasis on the well-being of our employees. With frequent outreach calls to employees, MDC makes it a priority to continuously check-in and see how employees are doing both personally and professionally. We know that the mental, emotional, and physical state in which one feels can have a significant impact on the way we view and approach our daily operations.

As MDC continues to adapt to these ever-changing times, we are reminded of the incredible strength and agility of our employees. While it hasn’t been easy, we are honored to work with such an incredible team. Despite the year’s events, these individuals continue to forge ahead and make a difference every day.
